The members of the panel of judges in the women section gathered in holy city of Mashhad in northeast Iran on Friday and Saturday to judge the recorded files of the contenders’ performances.
The Quran expert serving in the panel included Marziyeh Dayyani in Tajweed, Maliheh Es’haqnejad in Sawt, Leyla Bayast in Lahn, Maryam Khatib in Waqf and Ibtida, and Zahra Afkhami and Maryam Saeed in memorization.
Azam Abbasi was the technical supervisor in the panel, which was chaired by Maryam Khatib.
Thirty-five Quran female memorizers and reciters from different countries had submitted the recorded files of their performance to the organizing committee.
Hajar Mehralian and Fahimeh Asgharzadeh represent Iran in the memorization and Tarteel recitation categories of the competition, respectively.
The final stage in the men and women sections will kick off on February 13, concurrent with the Day of Maba’ath (marking the appointment of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the last messenger of God).
The motto of this edition, like the previous one, is “One Book, One Ummah”, a testimony to the significance that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches to unity and fraternity among Muslim nations.
Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the international Quran contest with the participation of Quran activists from various countries.
The 38th edition, was held in March 2022 virtually due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.
